The trip

Overview

Cyprus does winter golf with very little fuss: a short-haul flight, an island that stays mild from October to May, and a compact set of courses around Paphos that you can cover from one base. That base, for this journey, is the Aphrodite Hills estate — hotel, spa, village square and the PGA National Cyprus course all on one clifftop plateau above the sea.

Three rounds across five nights is the sensible ladder here: two on the resort course and its neighbouring Secret Valley, and one at Minthis or Elea for a change of scenery — a hillside monastery estate and a Faldo-designed coastal course respectively. Non-golfers get one of the better supporting casts in Mediterranean golf: a serious spa, the Paphos archaeological sites and winter sea views from the village square.

As everywhere on our golf list, the course set is a suggestion until verified — we request tee times, confirm what comes back, and only then ask you to commit.

Highlights

  • PGA National Cyprus on the Aphrodite Hills plateau
  • Secret Valley golf in the gorge below the resort
  • A third round at Minthis or Elea for variety
  • Resort village square with restaurants a stroll from your room
  • Paphos archaeological park and harbour twenty minutes away

Who it suits

  • Couples wanting winter golf where the non-golfing half is genuinely well served
  • UAE golfers after a short-haul alternative to Belek and the Costa del Sol
  • Small groups who prefer one walkable base over daily transfers

Why this journey works

  • One estate holds the hotel, spa, dining and a championship course
  • Cyprus's mild winter makes it a reliable October-to-May product
  • Three-round ladder with built-in variety from the island course set

Day by day

  1. Days 1–2

Arrive and play the home course

Fly from Dubai into Larnaca or Paphos — around four and a half hours — and transfer to the Aphrodite Hills estate. Day two opens on PGA National Cyprus, the resort course laid across two plateaus with a ravine carry at the signature seventh. Evenings work on foot: the village square holds the restaurants and bars.

  2. Days 3–4

Secret Valley and a rest day

Round two at Secret Valley in the sheltered gorge below the estate — a gentler card than the plateau course. Day four is free: the spa is one of the largest on the island, or take the short drive to the Tombs of the Kings and Paphos harbour. The rock of Aphrodite sits just along the coast road.

  3. Days 5–6

    The away round, then home

Closing round at Minthis in the Troodos foothills or Elea on the coast, both under an hour away and confirmed by availability at your dates. Final evening back at the village square, then the return flight — you can leave Cyprus after breakfast and be in Dubai for a late dinner.

Best Good Possible Less suitableSeasons are guidance, never a weather guarantee.

October to May is the Cyprus golf season, with midwinter days typically mild enough for golf in a sweater and the odd rain interruption rather than lost days. July and August are hot and better suited to beach than golf. Spring half-term and the winter school breaks from the UAE both land well here.
