The trip
Overview
When the UAE turns pleasantly cool, Southeast Asia turns ideal — and a Singapore-based cruise is the easiest way to sample three or four countries of it in one trip. Ten-night sailings typically head up the Malacca Strait or across to the Gulf of Thailand and Vietnam, with possible calls at Penang, Langkawi, Phuket, Ko Samui, Bangkok's port of Laem Chabang and Ho Chi Minh City via Phu My. The combination varies by sailing; the itinerary we confirm is always the one your ship operates.
Singapore itself is half the argument. Direct seven-hour flights from Dubai land you in one of the world's great stopover cities — Gardens by the Bay, hawker centres, the Marina Bay skyline — and the cruise terminal is minutes from the centre, so a pre-cruise night is easy and worth it.
On board, expect warm sea days between genuinely varied ports: street food in George Town, beaches on Langkawi or Ko Samui, temples and markets in Thailand and Vietnam. It is a strong winter product for UAE couples and for families over the December break.

Why this journey works

- ✓Direct Dubai and Abu Dhabi flights to Singapore simplify a multi-country trip
- ✓One ship replaces four sets of regional flights and hotels
Day by day
Days 1–2
Singapore and sail-away
Direct flights from Dubai or Abu Dhabi reach Singapore overnight or by early afternoon. We suggest one hotel night first — supper at a hawker centre, the light show at Gardens by the Bay — before boarding at Marina Bay Cruise Centre and sailing out past the anchored tankers into the strait.
Days 3–9
The strait, the gulf and the coast
Ports follow in a mix set by the selected sailing: Port Klang for Kuala Lumpur's Petronas Towers, Penang for George Town's food and street art, Langkawi's beaches and cable car, Phuket or Ko Samui for a classic Thai beach day, an overnight or long call at Laem Chabang for Bangkok's temples, and Phu My for Ho Chi Minh City. Sea days between them are proper tropical-deck days. Distances mean not every sailing reaches every country — we are clear about your specific routing before you book.
Days 10–11
Return to Singapore
Back into Marina Bay on the final morning. Fly straight home, or add two Singapore nights for the zoo, Sentosa or serious shopping — the direct flight home makes either painless.
Possible ports of call
Route inspiration — cruise line, ship and country mix are confirmed against the actual sailing; not every routing reaches every port listed.
When to go
Southeast Asia's main cruise season runs November to March, the driest and most comfortable months for most of the route. December holiday sailings book earliest. The April–October period brings monsoon patterns that shift by coast — some itineraries still operate, but we advise month by month rather than generalising.
