The trip

Overview

Phuket mixes serious golf with the full Andaman holiday better than anywhere in Asia: Red Mountain, carved through the ochre walls of an old tin mine, is one of the most photographed courses in the region and a genuine test; Laguna Phuket brings lagoon golf to the Bangtao resort strip; and Loch Palm’s giant central lake completes a varied three-round card. Direct flights from Dubai land you there in six and a half hours.

The balance is deliberate — three rounds, not five, because Phuket rewards the days off: island-hopping to Phang Nga Bay’s limestone towers, old-town Sino-Portuguese streets and their coffee shops, beach clubs on Bangtao, and a spa scene as deep as anywhere in Thailand. We base you at Bangtao or Kamala on the quieter west coast, fifteen to thirty minutes from all three courses, with caddies — customary throughout Thailand — booked at each.

Highlights

  • Red Mountain — canyon golf through a former tin mine’s red walls
  • Laguna Phuket’s lagoon-laced resort course
  • Loch Palm and its vast central lake
  • Phang Nga Bay island day among the limestone karsts
  • Phuket old town, beach clubs and serious spas between rounds

Who it suits

  • Golfers travelling with committed non-golfers — the holiday stands on its own
  • Couples and families using UAE winter or term breaks
  • First-time Thailand golfers wanting drama without difficulty of logistics

Why this journey works

  • Direct Dubai–Phuket flights remove the Bangkok changeover
  • Three rounds in seven nights leaves the Andaman properly explored
  • Red Mountain alone gives the golf bragging rights

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Direct to the Andaman

The direct Dubai–Phuket flight lands mid-afternoon or evening by schedule; transfer thirty minutes to the west coast. Check in, swim, first pad thai of the week. Hotel style: five-star beach resort at Bangtao or Kamala.

  2. Day 2

    Loch Palm to loosen up

Open with the friendliest of the three — Loch Palm’s fairways wrapping the great lake, forgiving enough to find a rhythm. Afternoon at the beach club. Access unverified — confirmed at booking.

  3. Day 3

    Red Mountain

The headline act: dramatic elevation changes through the old mine’s red canyon walls, with the par-three seventeenth dropping off a cliff edge. Take photographs; respect the card. Evening massage mandatory in spirit. Access unverified — confirmed at booking.

  4. Days 4–5

    The Andaman days

Two days without golf. A longtail or speedboat day into Phang Nga Bay — James Bond island, sea caves by canoe, lunch on the water — then a slower day for Phuket old town’s shophouse streets, a cooking class or simply the pool. Sunset at a west-coast beach bar.

  5. Day 6

    Laguna Phuket, farewell dinner

Closing round on Laguna’s lagoon-threaded resort course, ten minutes from the hotel. Farewell dinner on the sand — most Bangtao resorts set tables on the beach with a day’s notice.

  6. Day 7

    Spare day

Optional extra round, a Similan or Coral island trip in season, or an unapologetic final beach day. We leave it unplanned on purpose.

  7. Day 8

    Home direct

Morning at leisure and the direct flight back to Dubai — six and a half hours, no connections, minimal jet lag.

Best Good Possible Less suitableSeasons are guidance, never a weather guarantee.

November to April is the dry season and the best golf window — also peak beach season, so we book courses and hotels together early. May to October brings the green-season pattern of short heavy showers, quieter courses and sharply better rates; mornings usually stay playable. Sea conditions for island trips are calmest December to March.
