The trip

Overview

Mallorca is the Mediterranean’s most underrated golf island: two dozen courses, a five-star dining and hotel scene centred on Palma, and in Alcanada — set above the bay with a lighthouse off the first tee’s shoulder — one of the prettiest courses in Europe. This five-night journey plays three of the island’s best while leaving real time for the beaches, the old town and the mountain villages.

The base is a single hotel — either Palma for the restaurants or the Alcúdia bay for the beach — with three rounds spaced across the stay: Alcanada in the north, Son Gual’s manicured championship test just outside Palma, and Son Muntaner among the olive trees of the Son Vida estate. Evenings belong to Palma’s tapas bars and the marina. It suits couples where golf is the anchor rather than the entire point.

Highlights

  • Alcanada — sea views on every hole and the lighthouse par-fours
  • Son Gual, the island’s benchmark championship course
  • Son Muntaner on the historic Son Vida estate above Palma
  • Palma old town — cathedral, tapas alleys and the marina
  • A Tramuntana mountains afternoon: Valldemossa and Deià

Who it suits

  • Couples balancing three rounds with beach, mountains and dining
  • Golfers adding quality rounds to a Mediterranean summer escape
  • Small groups celebrating a birthday or anniversary

Why this journey works

  • Alcanada’s setting alone carries the trip; Son Gual adds the test
  • Five nights suits the Eid breaks and long UAE weekends with a day added
  • Palma delivers city-grade dining most golf islands cannot

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Arrive Palma

Fly from Dubai via a European hub into Palma. Check in — we usually favour a design hotel in the old town or a resort on Alcúdia bay depending on your golf-to-beach ratio — and take the first evening among the tapas bars behind the cathedral.

  2. Day 2

    Son Gual

The island’s sternest examination first: Son Gual’s wide, immaculate championship layout ten minutes from Palma, with olive trees and serious bunkering. Long clubhouse lunch, pool afternoon. Access unverified — confirmed at booking.

  3. Day 3

    Alcanada above the bay

Drive north for the round everyone photographs — Alcanada, sloping to the sea with the lighthouse island offshore. Pair it with a swim at Playa de Muro and dinner in Alcúdia’s walled old town before returning to base.

  4. Day 4

    Mountains and rest

No golf. The Tramuntana villages — Valldemossa’s monastery, Deià’s artists’ hillside, lunch overlooking the sea at a cliffside restaurant — or simply a beach and spa day. Palma’s Passeig del Born for a final-night shopping hour.

  5. Day 5

    Son Muntaner, farewell Palma

Closing round at Son Muntaner among ancient olives on the Son Vida estate, fifteen minutes from the city. Farewell dinner at the marina or a vermuteria in the old town.

  6. Day 6

    Home

Morning at leisure, then the flight back to Dubai via the hub — an easy travel day after an unhurried week.

Best Good Possible Less suitableSeasons are guidance, never a weather guarantee.

April to June and September to October are ideal — warm fairways, swimmable sea and lighter crowds; July and August are hot, busy and best for beach-first groups with dawn tee times. Winter golf continues in mild conditions with reduced rates, though some resort hotels close between November and February. Almond blossom in late January is the island’s quiet secret.
